Editing blog

So for the past two weekends I have not be able to film. Which sucked because I fell my group could have done a lot. However I can not go and change the past. But since I no film there is nothing to edit. Which is weird since this my editing blog. Now I will be filming with weekend along side my group member. I have downloaded the correct editing tool that my teachers would like us to use. I plain on editing the thirty seconds maybe forty by Saturday. After having edited all that film I will go back and work on the end. After my group and I filmed it.
Now I only want to do the first and last part for the editing. For one it’s a small chunk of time and I am the cameraman. So by filming most of the intro to our film. I don’t feel the need to edit that much.  But I will have done my editing by this weekend to be ready for the peer review.

filming blog

Over this past week and weekend I was not able to film again. During the week my my time by practice. I had a total of 4 practices that the majority of my time. Along with practicing at my school I had to practice my solo. My evaluation was Friday February 21st in which I got straight superiors on both solos. After that I had to go to pride band. This is the South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble which promotes a safe place to make music. Then on Saturday i had practice for it from 10 to 6 with a pot luck in the middle. During my partner was at work which was a conflicting schedule. On Sunday I spent the morning with my farther who flue in. So i went to Ihop with him then went and bowled. After bowling we ate at sonic then i had to go to the parker play house. This were the performance for pride band was being held at. So i got there at three and the performance didn't start until seven. So during that time we had a mini run through of the music they also feed us. The concert went well and I also received a scholarship there. This is what week and weekend consisted of which did not allow me to film. Along with the fact that my parter had thing to do as well.

Filming blog

This past weekend I was going to start filming my final project. That Friday I was not at school to pick up a camera. So hopefully we could still meet up and film with our phones. However that weekend was not in our favour. As my partner and I had conflicting schedules. When ever I was free she had work. Then I had work and practices to go to. My weekend was filled from top to bottom with hours of time being used. On that Saturday I had sat prep which was at ten in the morning. After that which takes and hour and a half I had to practice my solo. So by one I had a pretty productive day. Then meaningless chores and cleaning had to be down around the house. While my partner was working, which isn’t bad cause everyone has to stop. When were ready, our great state chose to rain. In total we would not be able to film that day. Then came Sunday, which I spend the first at church. When I got home at twelve thirty I sat down to eat. My mother stopped for food because I was hungry. After I had to ready for a practice that starts at two and ends at six sometimes. Now after that there is still some daylight but my time on the weekend was fading away. So unfortunately I was not able to film this weekend.

Film storyboard

This is a google slide of my storyboard. Before, I did a blog on each scenes for shooting and sound. This storyboard, however, creates a visual of how the film will be organized and look. The storyboard is organized by scene. There are ten scenes so there are a total of ten slides. It also includes that type of camera angles and shots that will be happening in each scene. I attached this storyboard so that people can see the story and purpose behind the initial start of the movie main idea. My partner worked on scenes one through five while I worked on scenes six through ten. It took us some time to plan this because when we film , this is the basic guideline. This in helpful because it will make the filming process run much smoother.

Title

This is a google slide of how our title design will go in detail. We made sure that we used no more than three fonts because we don't want to cause confusion to the audience. Our film we be taken in the daytime so we made sure the coloring of our title and credits will be legible and visible to the naked eye. The title will be in either white or black and the credits will be in black. We also took in consideration of how the the title and credits will come in. Rather it fades or bounce it, it will have to go with the genre of our film. The spacing of the letters will be spaced out enough to where the titles are legible. I attached this google slide to create imagery of how the title will pop up in the title sequence. I realize that the font plays a major role in the title sequence. I put in much thought and is confident with my decision.

LPHC

This is my overall conclusion on location, participants, health and safety, and schedule. In this google drive you will see what I want to shoot my film, the people involved, the health measures that will be taken for safety, and what we plan on doing each week prior to the final movie. The layout is very similar to the production in the movie Love and Basketball. There is a total of four slides. Each slide shows the different categories. I am inserting this to show they overall message and tone for how the film will go. It may vary due to weather. Each slide explains what is going to take place. However, the location slide shows by pictures more than words. All of these slides are very crucial. It also makes it easier for me to put together my storyboard. The factors play a major role on if it correlate with the genre of our movie.

sound script

This is my sound script. In this google drive you will see what I want the actors to say and background sounds in my opening or title sequence. The scene is very similar to the introduction scene in the movie Love and Basketball. There is a total of 10 slides. Each one of my scenes has a change of either angle or scenery. I am inserting this to show they overall message and tone for how the film will go. It may vary due to actors. Each scene has about three things happening. However, each scene will be of different timing. At the end of sound script it end very dramatically.l because it ends in silence.  It will have the audience wanting to watch what happens next.

Title Research The Back-up Plan

On the website Watch the Titles, I watched the title sequence to the movie The Back-up Plan. While watching it I noticed there was about seven different main title displayed. There was music by, produced by, writing by, directed by, casting by, production studio, and designed by. No images were prioritized during this sequence but instead an animated version of the main idea of the movie. Even the background wasn't a fixed image, it was a two-dimension animated sketch of a city. The connotation of the sequence by the looks of it is that the main character wants to have a baby or have baby fever. The strategy of showing baby pictures throughout the entire city in the opening sequence appeals to the audience by letting them know that a baby plays a major role in the main idea of the movie. The title sequence established a enigma by leaving curiosity on why is the main character so interested in babies. The romance genre was reinforced in this sequence by the couples seen throughout the title and the drama genre was reinforced in this sequence through small clips of aggravated people in the city. Technology was used effectively in this title sequence because it got the point across that the main character is somehow someway fascinated in babies. It also shows that the character is so fascinated in babies that she is blind sided by other things.

Title Research Snow White and the Huntsman

From the website Watch the Titles, I watched the opening sequence to Snow White and the Huntsman. While watching it, I noticed that there were about 8 main titles displayed each with different sections. The was the production studios, produced by, directed by, casting, editors, photography, screen story, and music. Images prioritized during this title sequence included very dark images of items like roses, iron, and black feathers. The connotation behind this sequence is that there is dark love involved in this movie. The strategy of music and dark lighting ensured a appeal to the audience as to why the love images and war like images both being displayed and why are they black. The romance genre was reinforced through the love images being displayed and drama genre was reinforced by the switching of different themed imaged through the title sequence. It established enigma with the audience because it raised question marks as to why would love be displayed so dark. It was a contradicting feeling. Technology was used effectively because the slowness of the movement of images and the music created a mystery to the viewers. It made us feel as if there was some type of irony behind the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs story we know.

Title Research Are We Done Yet

On the website 'Watch the Titles', I watched the titles sequence to the movie "Are We There Yet?" While watching it, I noticed that there were nine main titles displayed, each with different sections. There was production studios, produced by, directed by, casting by, editors, music by, photography by, the title itself, and the production designing. No images were prioritized during this sequence but more of a animated version of the comedy behind the movie was displayed with a fixed background. The connotation giving during this title sequence is that the main character goes through a lot to try and fixed things himself and it doesn't always end too well. The strategy of comedy and cool animation ensure a appeal to the audience letting them know there will be lots of conflict yet laughter. The title sequence established an enigma because the audience will be curious as to why the character acts they way he do. The comedy genre is reinforced through the animation and the drama genre is reinforced through the dilemma displayed. Technology was used effectively because the titles didn't just pop up, they constructed and fixed by the main character of the movie. This was well thought of because the main action in the movie is the construction of a house.

Title Research Watch the Titles

On the website 'Watch the Titles' they have the openings of popular movies, TV shows, and video games. They do this to show the title sequences and the importance of how it is presented. The site is designed in a way where you can scroll and see plenty of titles from movies, shows, or games. It will give you an option of what type of type sequence you want, then list everything they have for your selection. It also tells us a quick summary of the film itself. Every title sequence you click on, it will automatically split into nine different boxes to show different titles of that movie. The dramatic effect of the way the titles were displayed really correlated with the mood of the title opening. I went on the site because I myself have a movie I have to film coming up. One of the requirements for my film is to insert the titles in the beginning or opening scene. By going on this site it will show me how to use my genre to appropriately insert my titles. What I learned on this site is that the lighting and sounds plays a major role in the opening sequence. I know the site was suppose to show how to make the title sequence look dramatic. However, the title sequence would not be as dramatic and effective if it didn't have the appropriate background music or sound. For example, if it was a horror movie title sequence, the sound in the background would be suspense or creepy music. Also the lighting would be dark or dull so that the audience can get a feeling of scariness from it. This showed me that not only do I need to have good inserts for my titles but also proper music and lighting of the titles.

Title Research Art of the Title

On the website 'Art of the Title' they have the openings of popular movies. They do this to show the title sequences and the importance of how it is presented. The site is designed in a way where you can scroll and see plenty of titles from movies of all genre. It also tells us the credits giving to the people for making the film. Every movie you click on, it will automatically split into nine different boxes to show different titles of that movie. The dramatic effect of the way the titles were displayed really correlated with the mood of the movie. I went on the site because I myself have a movie I have to film coming up. Two Different Genre Research

The genre of horror is very essential of the movie business. It consists of 5 elements: imagination, suspense, fear, foreshadowing, and mystery. Suspense is what's known to be the most important aspect of a horror movie. Some horror movies use make-up and costumes to disguise as the monster and wicked creature. However, this is only for the bad creatures, the normal or regular people are usually natural with look and casual clothes. The lighting on most horror movies are very dark to create more suspense so that you don't know what's about to happen or pop out. The acting of the characters consists of acting scared to death. I say to death because a lot of horror movies usually end in death or is threatened by death. Main props I see used in horror movies is blood and knives. Blood is believe to do the most essential prop of course. Sound in horror movies includes suspense music that will usually indicate that something big is coming or about to happen. The movie will usually go from being very quiet to very loud. The setting my take place at a grave sight, at home, in the woods, or in abandoned buildings. Camera angles and shots are almost always close-up to medium because film making wants everyone to see the horror up close in person so that the audience may be scared. Zoom is t, he most common camera movement used in horror film because it creates a dramatic affect that creates suspense and fear. One thing I like about horror movies is the sound of the suspense music when you can tell something is about to happen. However, one thing I do not like the scary parts itself because they other give me nightmares. Examples of horror movies include: The Conjuring, Anabelle, It, It Follows, and Don't Breathe.
Another cool genre used a lot in film is fantasy. My personal favorite fantasy movie is Jumanji. Fantasy films often have an element of magic, myth, wonder, escapism, and the extraordinary. Many fantasy movies used make-up and costumes to cast the look of another person. A person of unreal character. The lighting in most fantasy movies are usually very bright and takes place in a bright setting. The setting is almost always outside. The acting of the characters are jolly and extraordinary. Main props used in fantasy movies include magic and supernatural powers. The sounds in these types of movies can range from upbeat music to non-diegetic sound. Depending on what is going on at the time, the sound and music will vary. Camera angles and shots ranges from extreme close-up to long and wide shots to show plot and setting. Zoom, pan, tilt, and tracking shot are common in fantasy movies. My favorite thing about fantasy movies is that even though in the movie the people may have supernatural powers, it shows how people can be just as brace and strong in real life. That you don't need a cape and super powers to be a hero make a impact. However, one thing I do not like is that sometimes the fantasy movies can be corny while trying to be funny. Example of fantasy movies include: Malficent, Avengers, The Hobbit, and Jumanji.

Genre Research Coach Carter

Like our movie Love and Basketball, the movie Coach Carter is very similar. They both share the element of sport and drama. The elements of this movie consisted of skilled work, conditioning, strength, regeneration, and optimistic ending. This movie was about a former player (older guy) returns to his old high school to coach the boys basketball team. He is different than most coaches though because he was very concern with the team grades and classwork just as much as the sport of basketball. Therefore, he took more disciplinary actions with the players that many people criticized but ended up teaching the kids a valuable lesson. The camera angles  in the movie ranged from eye level to low level. Low level was more used to get close ups in the basketball game and eye level was more used fro dialogue in the movie. The movie movement mostly consists of pan and tracking shot for the training and high school games of the team. The shots would sometimes be close-up but to view the gym, it would have to be a long and wide shot. Sounds in the movie was diegetic sound because it was sounds you can actually hear. For example, the basketball dribbling, the crowd going wild, and the whistles blowing. The other sounds included that of dialogue or conversation. Costumes included jerseys for the games and casual clothes, nothing formal. Not much make-up is shown or included in this movie, it has more of an natural look for the characters. The setting usually took place in a gym rather it was for training or the actual game. Also took place in the classroom to focus on grades.  The main prop and object of the whole movie was the basketball of course.Te acting varied. The coach acted more like a parent than a coach and the bystanders acted upset with the decisions of the coach. The lighting of the movie was usually dull because its a older movie and a movie that talked about hard times.

Genre Research Uncle Drew

Like our movie Love and Basketball, the movie Uncle Drew is very similar. They both share the same genre of sports. The elements involved in this movie includes competition modes, victory and loss conditions, player roles, and setting. The movie is about the old age school of basketball schooling the new age school of basketball through street ball. A lot of young player now and days think they know everything and figure that the game originated from the older players. The camera angles  in the movie ranged from eye level to low level. Low level was more used to get close ups in the basketball game and eye level was more used for dialogue in the movie. The movie movement mostly consists of pan and tracking shot for the training and NBA games of the main character. The shots would sometimes be close-up but to view the outside court game, it would have to be a long and wide shot. Make-up was very essential to this movie. The movie included many different NBA all-star that put on make-up to disguise as old people. It helped with the overall message that older people can still hoop too. The setting usually took place in a a van for most of the traveling and on the outside court. The main prop and object of the whole movie was the basketball of course. The acting differed with the actors. The old people were very manipulative because they would act like they can't play so that people would judge them and want to take advantage of them. When they did, they would pull of their craziest stunts and win the game. Other actors in the movie were very judgmental of the older players and almost always doubted them because they were old. Until, the older crew taught them a lesson. The lighting of the movie was both dull and bright. Sometimes the tournaments would take place during the day time, and sometimes at night.

What we decided to do..

So me and my partner decided to do the genre of sports and drama. We decided to do this because we figured that a lot of people were going to do horror  or action and we wanted to be different. Plus we both have a big love for sports and the message behind a lot of sports movies. The message is usually about loyalty, hard-work, and dedication to being the best while also overcoming personal life issues. Also the film we decided to go with as a very known and popular movie by not just athletes but people in general. This film later on gained 12 different awards with 15 different nominations. So it is very liked by others and us which made think that this movie was for sure the winner.

Genre Research Radio

Like our movie Love and Basketball, the movie Radio is very similar. They both share the genre of drama and sports. The elements of this movie included the setting, the audience, the plot of the story, and the theme behind it. It was a story about how a mental disabled student named radio made a huge impact on the football team and later helped them win a championship. He didn't play but he was a loyal assistant to the coach. The camera angles ranged from eye level to high level. It was eye level when people were talking or they wanted to focus on one particular football player. The high level was used to show the football team as a whole from the top angle. Which leads to say the shots in the movie ranged from close-up to wide long shots. The wide long shots were mostly used to show the football games as a whole. The movement in the movie consisted of pan movement and tracking shot. The sounds in the movie were diegetic sounds because it was sounds that you actually hear, For example, the whistles and clashing of the football players during the games. Other sounds included dialogue and conversation. Costumes included jerseys for the games and casual clothes, nothing formal. Not much make-up is shown or included in this movie, it has more of an natural look for the characters. The setting usually took place at school, in the locker room, and on the field; rather it was for training or the actual high school football game. The main prop and object of the whole movie was the football of course. Acting by the characters varied. The main character of the movie was the disabled students who is not disabled in real life so he had to act like it to get a point across. The others actors were either receptive of him or humiliated by him, until the end where they all appreciated him. The lightening was usually in the middle of dull and bright. For example, the football games were at night so it was dark but the field lights brought a bright lighting to it as well.

Genre Research Just Wright

Like our movie Love and Basketball, the movie Just Wright is a movie very similar. They both share the genre of romance and sports. The elements of this movie consisted of skilled work, conditioning, strength, regeneration, and optimistic ending. It's a love story between two people centered around the game of basketball. The camera angles  in the movie ranged from eye level to low level. Low level was more used to get close ups in the basketball game and eye level was more used fro dialogue in the movie. The movie movement mostly consists of pan and tracking shot for the training and NBA games of the main character. The shots would sometimes be close-up but to view the arena, it would have to be a long and wide shot. The setting usually took place in a gym rather it was for training or the actual NBA game. The main prop and object of the whole movie was the basketball of course. Acting by the characters varied. Some were gold diggers and not loyal to the basketball main player after a injury. The other main character was romantic yet showed gratitude towards the main basketball player. The lighting very bright when it was in the arena however, had less contrast on normal clips.
