Final filming blog

So this past week as thanksgiving, and I had a great time. I enjoyed the company of friends and family. However in doing so me and my partner never filmed our music video. We had hoped we would doing over that weekend so we both could enjoy time with our families. We did but for the whole break. My partner went to South Carolina for the break. I stayed home and worked. This year I worked on Black Friday which was crazy. But between everything that happened me and my partner Taylor came up with a plain. This was to finish this week after school.
The week before break we knew what we wanted. But we never made it happen between the two of us. Now that we are pressed for time we have to get it done. We plain to film tomorrow after school and finish it all in one day. We are going to follow the script we laid in our storyboard. We will had to the Porsche dealership and shoot all our shots as fast as possible. Then we keep moving along with wasting anytime. As we are doing this I want to only take to shots of each box. This way we can save time in two ways. One being the filming but also the editing, if we don’t have that many videos. It will allow us to put the pieces together faster.
We have our plain and we are ready to attack. Now this may be last minute compared to our last project. But we will still put forth max effort to make sure it looks good. Also well as showing all of the aspects of the category of music video we are doing. When everything is done we will have put forth a great music video. Further I fell that our video will be better the original. But time will tell, so it’s off to go start and finish the video. That way we don’t end up failing this class. And that catch’s you up to date on was going down in AICE MEDIA.

Filming

Over this past weekend we were going to film our music video. However we did not get a chance because of our schedules. On Friday I went on a school trip. Me and a small group went to Orlando for two days. This was for the Florida classic. This event has two parts, the battle of the bands and the game. The battle of the bands is where bands compete for placement. And the final bands are Florida A&M University And Bethune Cookman University. In my opinion FAMU was better, and the game is between this two colleges.
This BCU won which kinda made me upset. But I was able to see all the people who graduated from my school and went to FAMU. So overall I had a great time. To get back home we took a bus. We didn’t leave the game until around 8:30 and then we went somewhere afterwards. I’d say we didn’t start heading back until around 11. This was because we stopped for food then left. We also took another stop for no reason as everything was closed. I didn’t get back to the school until around two in the morning. And I don’t believe I got home until three. So it was a long night for me and my mom.
We came back Sunday and that when we were going to film. But I did not wake up until around twelve. I texted my partner to see if we are still filming. She said that she really didn’t want to film. I was kinda happy cause I didn’t know if I could move at all. So we agreed to wait until thanksgiving weekend. So our plan never happened. So I’m looking forward to this weekend to get it done. Now that rested me and my partner are gonna snap.

Storyboard blog

In the beginning of our video, we plan on doing short clips of poses. We chose to do this because of the original music video, it had a pose with every drum tick. Our location will be at a Porsche dealership because in the beginning of the song Cardi B says “Drop top Porsche”. My attire will be 80’s pop wear because that’s the vibe the song gives off. Which leads us to the second scene where Taylor is the car lip syncing the intro. The third scene is her walking down Las Olas Boulevard. As she walks down the street, she will be dancing and having fun with it. She plans to have people interact with her as she walks down the road. This will also be the same as the fourth scene, but will be flashing money and jewellery. This is because they speak about wealth in the song. After the street part, on the “Aye” part of the song Taylor will come out of a closet with brand new clothes on. This will transition to the part where Burno Mars part comes in at the beach.

He will start by singing and dance in a store, along with shopping. This shows that he likes to spoil himself. Then he moves to Las Olas when he says “When I’m walking with you”. Our plan is to find someone for him to walk with and show off. He then moves back to the Porsche dealership and he once again shows off his wealth in a fun way. The next scene is at the beach where Burno is dancing and doing his thing. The video will end the sound the of the car going off.

Planing Blog

The song we planned on doing is Finesse by Bruno Mars and Cardi B. Thus song is very upbeat and fun so we want our video to match the same energy. The song is not dark, therefore our lighting well be bright and full of colors. I location will vary with every scene. One will be at a exotic car dealership because in the beginning of the song it says "Drop top Porsche". Another location will be at the mall for the changing of clothes. Lastly, we will also film at the beach fro the nice scenery. We will make sure are around a lot of people and our parents are near for all safety situations. We will also have water to keep us hydrated for we are filming outside.
Our props will contain: jewelry, money, cars, and people. Since the theme of the song is to show off some type of wealth, we figured these props were most appropriate. Our costumes will be old-school, 80's type. We chose thus because it represent a type of pop culture. On the first day will will film the intro of the song at the car dealership. On the second day of filming we will review and clean up the car scene and move on with the rest of the Cardi B scene. On the third day will have finished with the intro and we will be doing the singing part of the song. Then when we have time to correct any part that will feel that can be changed.

Music video research blog

Now that we are done with the commercial we have to make a music video. Hopefully it goes as well as the commercial. I learned better ways to shoot and get things done fast and smooth after completing it. The editing went very well for the commercial, so I feel great about how the editing will go for the music video. I am ready for this project and the challenges that will come. I kinda don’t want to do it, but I do at the same time. Since we just finished one project and to turn around and do another one is a lot. Nevertheless I’m to give my all for the music video and look forward to having a great time.

The song we decided to do is Finesse by Bruno Mars and Cardi B. We chose to do this song for various reasons. The artists of the song are modern and very well known. Many people love their music. Also the song itself is upbeat and happy which will put people in a good mood. Many people must love it because it received 620million views on YouTube. It even received a award for Favorite Soul/RNB song at 2018 American Music Awards.

The genre of the song is mixed with a little bit of pop, RnB, and soul music. Although this sounds old school, the youth is the group that enjoyed the song this most (because of the artists). In the video the camera movement pretty much followed the movement of the dancers. The shots included: close up, medium close up, and medium shots. Their transitioning was very fast because many shots included short silly poses. In order to remake this video, we would have to find clothes from like the 80’s or 90’s that represent a pop culture. The lighten may vary, however many of the videos are vibrant in color. Therefore ours will be too. The acting was very joyful. You can tell through the facial expressions and the way the people were dancing in the video. I’m sure makeup was applied for the actors, but for our video makeup will be optional. The props they used in the video included paintbrushes , painting in a white room. Our props may include money, jewelry, and a radio. The sound will obviously include the Finesse song. What will make our project unique is that will incorporate other people  in our video to enjoy the fun.

Editing blog

When we came into class it took a few minutes to get started. The reason is that some took our computer. So once we got ahold of the computer we went straight to work. We had to get our footage from both of ours google drive and put it into a folder. This part took way to long because the WiFi was acting up. We then opened pinnacle studios and import the footage. We carefully went through each video to see which ones we like the best. Once we had a rough idea of videos we want. We drop them in so we can truly start.

The start would be me throwing my jacket. This was used instead of the volleyball idea. So it was the same concept as the volleyball, as the jacket would turn into a basketball. The next piece of footage was Taylor dribbling the basketball. To get to this video we faded from the jacket to the basketball in the air. Now we only had one good shot of Taylor catching the ball so we two videos of her. We faded from the catch and to her dribbling for a few more seconds then placing the ball down. Then used a straight transition to Brandon having his foot on a soccer ball in the field. We then put in a fade to him doing tricks and shooting at the goal. After we completed these three we removed the audio from them.

Once the computer finish stripping the audio we did a straight cut into me throwing a football. This was shot by using an over the shoulder shot. We then looked at the video and stopped it just before the person caught it, and we cut that part out. Once we liked were the cut was we add the second part of this segment. We faded into the second part which was the catch followed by him running and scoring, and doing a little dance. Followed by this we faded to me doing a similar action and setting up to start a race in the track. We cut part of this out because it was shot at two angles. One was looking at my back and one from the side. We faded from one to another to show a start and then mid run. Once I passed through the screen it fades to black and the Nike logo comes up, with our message of “Find your will” which ends our commercial.

Filming blog

So our first day of filming was on Wednesday. We started by filming Taylor dribble a basketball. After a few seconds of dribbling she would slam the ball on the floor. The ball would then would switch into a soccer ball. Then Brandon would dribble the ball and kick it. We moved to our next sport which was football. For football we used to different camera angles to provide a better view. The first view was an over the shoulder shot, then a normal eye level shot along the side line. This the only time we used two angles for the commercial.

After we had done all of that it was time to pack up. So we ran inside so we can dump our footage. We got every dumped and were ready for the next time we have to film. Unfortunately both Taylor and I were not present on Friday. So we could not film that day. We fell behind and on Monday Taylor was not there. Now since she wasn't there it was up to me to finish my part. I not going to lie it was very difficult. Trying to film yourself is something that is weird. I never thought I would ever do something like that.

I ran so much that day and it was so hot. For the filming I filmed me throwing my jacket and me running on the track. For me throwing the jacket I did in the same place Taylor was dribbling the ball. That way it can turn into the basketball she caught. For me running the track I set up the camera on a tripod behind me. This shows the starting line and the start of me running. Then I set the tripod on the field to get a side view of me running. Then I reshot them a couple times to get it just right. After I felt happy with it I went inside and dumped the film. But the school computer weren't working with me so I had to put it on my google drive.

editing blog

Last class we finished our dumping of the videos. However during this period the computer were not working in our favor. as we were going to edit today. So some of the group could not edit.Today our teacher said that we can't edit. The reason for this that pinnacle studios does not work on our computers. Our teacher was informed about this before our class. As we are waiting on new to arrive. So since we could edit any footage, so i decided re-filmed some things and rearranged our footage.

First we followed the rules of how to sign out a camera. After we had everything signed out we went  to go film. First you filmed me running in the track. This would come after the football part. So as the football player was putting his hands up. So it would transition to me jumping up then getting to run. After that we filmed me throwing my jacket. The jacket would turn into a basketball, which will be caught by Taylor. So that was what I did get the period, since we could not edit.

At the of the class I dumped the footage so we can edit next class. So next class we have save everything on the google dive. Since they will be wiping the computers. Today was very helpful and upsetting because we weren't done because we missed a class. However now we have to wait too edit and now everything is pushed back. Now next class we going to start our editing. In this process we will have to spilt, and take out some sound. My group will also add a song over the video for effect. I fell very good about the project so fas. Yet there is still so much to do in the coming glasses. But I really do hope they fix the computers on time.

Story broad

For our project we are doing a Nike commercial. Our Nike commercial is sports theme and will have volleyball, basketball, baseball, soccer, and football in it. It will start with a close up angle on a volleyball with a girl hitting it against the wall. The song “Win” by Jay Rock will start playing in the background. As she is digging the ball, the camera will slowly zoom out. When she spikes the ball, it will be caught by girl basketball player and the ball will transfer into a basketball. She will then show off her sick handles. The music at this point is louder. This will be a medium shot. When she is done dribbling, she will place the basketball aggressively on the ground. At this point the ball will turn into a soccer ball. In this stage the camera is at a high level. The soccer player foot be placed on the ball and he will perform some tricks with the ball before kicking into a goal. Except it won’t actually go into the goal. While it’s in the air, it will change into a football. A football player will then catch the football from the air then run to score a touchdown. You will hear a crowd cheering in the background. This will be a pan shot. When he scores, he will do his victory dance and toss the ball back. The ball that gets tossed will turn into the baseball. This last scene will be a medium-close up. The baseball player will then hit the baseball ball. As soon as the bat connects with the ball, the screen will go black but you will still hear the pop sound when the ball hit the bat. All of these transitions are action shots. Then black screen will then bring in the Nike sign & the quote “find your will”. The music will be especially loud on this screen. This will show the emphasis on the message of the commercial. Nike supports and is available for all sports. All filming will be outside therefore the lighting will be bright. I believe the variety of genders and pumping music will be the factors to make this commercial great.

editing review

In class we went over our camera system. We reviewed how to put the SD card in and take it out, as well how to put in the SD reader then into the computer. Along with that I learned how to use the tripod and attach a camera. After a basic introduction the class walked through the editing process. When we have the computer open before we start, we open a new folder so that we have somewhere to dump our footage. We then plug in our SD card reader and dump our footage into the folder. Once the SD is in a screen will appear and we go to DCIM to find the footage, if it is not there go to AVCHD then hit stream. Either way you get to the footage and highlight it and that is how you would dump it into the folder.

Once we have the footage in the folder, we now can open pinnacle studios and start new movie. Then we import the footage by getting to our folder and selecting the videos we want to put in. Once everything is loaded, we will the raw footage in the top left. To begin editing we select the videos in the order you want and drop them in track two.  Track two is used because track one is for titles and track three is voice overs or a soundtrack. To spilt footage, you find a place in the video then hit the razor button. This button will allow you then click another part. Then this section will be highlighted in orange then you can delete it. Another feature would be to right click which will allow to change the speed of the footage. Another part of the right click is you can open the editing screen to add effects. We then went over how to detach an audio and keep the video. Along with keeping the audio and getting rid of the video.

Finally, you add any last-minute touches that you fell you want then your done. Now you can render the footage. To render basically combines all the footage and makes it smooth. Then we export the footage by clicking the export button. Then a screen will pop up and you will select MPG4 so it will be the correct file. And you must at S.E which creates the best quality. Once the software has done its job you save the movie and put it into the folder. Then you can close everything but the basic software, you minimize it, so you don’t lose any progress. So that when you check out the video and you don’t like it, you can make changes to it. If you like what you did you can close the window and submit your work.

Planning Blog

Today we worked what goes into a commercial. My part was to look at a bunch of Nike commercials and see their themes. I saw they focus on actions that have to do with the brand or the sport. I told Taylor what ideas I had came up with and how we can do it, so that it follows the design of Nikes.

Our commercial is sports-themed for Nike so we will use sports balls and equipment as our props. We plan on using a basketball player, baseball player, volleyball player, football player, and soccer player. Each of them will be dressed in their appropriate uniform attire for their particular sport. On the 15th we plan on picking the appropriate location with good lightening to film to sports stars making their moves. On the 17th we will decide on the music and editing designs to make the views engage with the commercial. On the 19th we will make sure all of our actors are still on board and will be there for the shot and make the weather is up to par. Finally, on the 22, that's where the magic happens, and filming begins. We will film on the football field, by the stairs, and on the softball field.
If our ideas do not go as planned (like if it rains), then we will record everything in front of the stairs where the wingspan of the view is nice and plentiful.

So today we are working on our commercials and decided to go with Nike. Depending on the theme behind the Nike commercial, the setting is different. In most Nike commercials, they were advertising a sport in Nike apparel. This shows that the brand support supports both sports and physical appearance. In most recent years, Nike has expanded not only apparel but their ethics. This influenced us to make our commercial based off the "Nike is for everyone" motto.

For our commercial we will follow this theme and advertise a sports centered idea. In most Nike commercials there's always an inspirational theme and sound in the back. They use a current hype song used typically when people need to get pumped or is working out. This makes their video fun and interesting.

Their props are sports related and the lighting is usually standard unless their filming at night or in a building. This suggest that hard works pays off, and that Nike will help get you there. They gear their brand to people of all ages, ethnicity, gender, and social economic status. In recent years they did commercials on equality of all in any sports. This is why they co-found many other companies like Air Jordan, Converse, and Hurley.

Hello,
My name is Zach and I am a Senior in high school. I plan to major in music education and college and I still have no clue where I want to go. But before I was this close to college I lived a simple life that focused on sports. I grew up playing soccer and I felt I was extremely talented. Then around 4th or 5th grade is when I picked up basketball. Those two sports are truly my favorite to play and watch, however, sports never became a focus in my life.

My household had musically gifted people, and one of them turned out to be me. I sang in the South Florida Singing Songs, and the first instrument I ever learned was the violin. I started playing in the third grade and became very good at it in a short time frame. I picked it up faster than most of my classmates but then again we were all 7 or 8. This musical ability moved with me to middle and high school.

Now as a high school senior I spend most of my time in the band room trying to be better every day. I play a total of 13 or more different instruments and I still would like to learn more. Some may say I'm a band nerd but that is just something I'm passionate about. I still play sports outside of school and do many things around my community. So that is a little something about me and time moves on the more you will know.

By yours Truly,
Zach
