editing review

In class we went over our camera system. We reviewed how to put the SD card in and take it out, as well how to put in the SD reader then into the computer. Along with that I learned how to use the tripod and attach a camera. After a basic introduction the class walked through the editing process. When we have the computer open before we start, we open a new folder so that we have somewhere to dump our footage. We then plug in our SD card reader and dump our footage into the folder. Once the SD is in a screen will appear and we go to DCIM to find the footage, if it is not there go to AVCHD then hit stream. Either way you get to the footage and highlight it and that is how you would dump it into the folder.

Once we have the footage in the folder, we now can open pinnacle studios and start new movie. Then we import the footage by getting to our folder and selecting the videos we want to put in. Once everything is loaded, we will the raw footage in the top left. To begin editing we select the videos in the order you want and drop them in track two.  Track two is used because track one is for titles and track three is voice overs or a soundtrack. To spilt footage, you find a place in the video then hit the razor button. This button will allow you then click another part. Then this section will be highlighted in orange then you can delete it. Another feature would be to right click which will allow to change the speed of the footage. Another part of the right click is you can open the editing screen to add effects. We then went over how to detach an audio and keep the video. Along with keeping the audio and getting rid of the video.

Finally, you add any last-minute touches that you fell you want then your done. Now you can render the footage. To render basically combines all the footage and makes it smooth. Then we export the footage by clicking the export button. Then a screen will pop up and you will select MPG4 so it will be the correct file. And you must at S.E which creates the best quality. Once the software has done its job you save the movie and put it into the folder. Then you can close everything but the basic software, you minimize it, so you don’t lose any progress. So that when you check out the video and you don’t like it, you can make changes to it. If you like what you did you can close the window and submit your work.
