Filming blog

So our first day of filming was on Wednesday. We started by filming Taylor dribble a basketball. After a few seconds of dribbling she would slam the ball on the floor. The ball would then would switch into a soccer ball. Then Brandon would dribble the ball and kick it. We moved to our next sport which was football. For football we used to different camera angles to provide a better view. The first view was an over the shoulder shot, then a normal eye level shot along the side line. This the only time we used two angles for the commercial.

After we had done all of that it was time to pack up. So we ran inside so we can dump our footage. We got every dumped and were ready for the next time we have to film. Unfortunately both Taylor and I were not present on Friday. So we could not film that day. We fell behind and on Monday Taylor was not there. Now since she wasn't there it was up to me to finish my part. I not going to lie it was very difficult. Trying to film yourself is something that is weird. I never thought I would ever do something like that.

I ran so much that day and it was so hot. For the filming I filmed me throwing my jacket and me running on the track. For me throwing the jacket I did in the same place Taylor was dribbling the ball. That way it can turn into the basketball she caught. For me running the track I set up the camera on a tripod behind me. This shows the starting line and the start of me running. Then I set the tripod on the field to get a side view of me running. Then I reshot them a couple times to get it just right. After I felt happy with it I went inside and dumped the film. But the school computer weren't working with me so I had to put it on my google drive.

editing blog

Last class we finished our dumping of the videos. However during this period the computer were not working in our favor. as we were going to edit today. So some of the group could not edit.Today our teacher said that we can't edit. The reason for this that pinnacle studios does not work on our computers. Our teacher was informed about this before our class. As we are waiting on new to arrive. So since we could edit any footage, so i decided re-filmed some things and rearranged our footage.

First we followed the rules of how to sign out a camera. After we had everything signed out we went  to go film. First you filmed me running in the track. This would come after the football part. So as the football player was putting his hands up. So it would transition to me jumping up then getting to run. After that we filmed me throwing my jacket. The jacket would turn into a basketball, which will be caught by Taylor. So that was what I did get the period, since we could not edit.

At the of the class I dumped the footage so we can edit next class. So next class we have save everything on the google dive. Since they will be wiping the computers. Today was very helpful and upsetting because we weren't done because we missed a class. However now we have to wait too edit and now everything is pushed back. Now next class we going to start our editing. In this process we will have to spilt, and take out some sound. My group will also add a song over the video for effect. I fell very good about the project so fas. Yet there is still so much to do in the coming glasses. But I really do hope they fix the computers on time.

Story broad

For our project we are doing a Nike commercial. Our Nike commercial is sports theme and will have volleyball, basketball, baseball, soccer, and football in it. It will start with a close up angle on a volleyball with a girl hitting it against the wall. The song “Win” by Jay Rock will start playing in the background. As she is digging the ball, the camera will slowly zoom out. When she spikes the ball, it will be caught by girl basketball player and the ball will transfer into a basketball. She will then show off her sick handles. The music at this point is louder. This will be a medium shot. When she is done dribbling, she will place the basketball aggressively on the ground. At this point the ball will turn into a soccer ball. In this stage the camera is at a high level. The soccer player foot be placed on the ball and he will perform some tricks with the ball before kicking into a goal. Except it won’t actually go into the goal. While it’s in the air, it will change into a football. A football player will then catch the football from the air then run to score a touchdown. You will hear a crowd cheering in the background. This will be a pan shot. When he scores, he will do his victory dance and toss the ball back. The ball that gets tossed will turn into the baseball. This last scene will be a medium-close up. The baseball player will then hit the baseball ball. As soon as the bat connects with the ball, the screen will go black but you will still hear the pop sound when the ball hit the bat. All of these transitions are action shots. Then black screen will then bring in the Nike sign & the quote “find your will”. The music will be especially loud on this screen. This will show the emphasis on the message of the commercial. Nike supports and is available for all sports. All filming will be outside therefore the lighting will be bright. I believe the variety of genders and pumping music will be the factors to make this commercial great.

editing review

In class we went over our camera system. We reviewed how to put the SD card in and take it out, as well how to put in the SD reader then into the computer. Along with that I learned how to use the tripod and attach a camera. After a basic introduction the class walked through the editing process. When we have the computer open before we start, we open a new folder so that we have somewhere to dump our footage. We then plug in our SD card reader and dump our footage into the folder. Once the SD is in a screen will appear and we go to DCIM to find the footage, if it is not there go to AVCHD then hit stream. Either way you get to the footage and highlight it and that is how you would dump it into the folder.

Once we have the footage in the folder, we now can open pinnacle studios and start new movie. Then we import the footage by getting to our folder and selecting the videos we want to put in. Once everything is loaded, we will the raw footage in the top left. To begin editing we select the videos in the order you want and drop them in track two.  Track two is used because track one is for titles and track three is voice overs or a soundtrack. To spilt footage, you find a place in the video then hit the razor button. This button will allow you then click another part. Then this section will be highlighted in orange then you can delete it. Another feature would be to right click which will allow to change the speed of the footage. Another part of the right click is you can open the editing screen to add effects. We then went over how to detach an audio and keep the video. Along with keeping the audio and getting rid of the video.

Finally, you add any last-minute touches that you fell you want then your done. Now you can render the footage. To render basically combines all the footage and makes it smooth. Then we export the footage by clicking the export button. Then a screen will pop up and you will select MPG4 so it will be the correct file. And you must at S.E which creates the best quality. Once the software has done its job you save the movie and put it into the folder. Then you can close everything but the basic software, you minimize it, so you don’t lose any progress. So that when you check out the video and you don’t like it, you can make changes to it. If you like what you did you can close the window and submit your work.

Planning Blog

Today we worked what goes into a commercial. My part was to look at a bunch of Nike commercials and see their themes. I saw they focus on actions that have to do with the brand or the sport. I told Taylor what ideas I had came up with and how we can do it, so that it follows the design of Nikes.

Our commercial is sports-themed for Nike so we will use sports balls and equipment as our props. We plan on using a basketball player, baseball player, volleyball player, football player, and soccer player. Each of them will be dressed in their appropriate uniform attire for their particular sport. On the 15th we plan on picking the appropriate location with good lightening to film to sports stars making their moves. On the 17th we will decide on the music and editing designs to make the views engage with the commercial. On the 19th we will make sure all of our actors are still on board and will be there for the shot and make the weather is up to par. Finally, on the 22, that's where the magic happens, and filming begins. We will film on the football field, by the stairs, and on the softball field.
If our ideas do not go as planned (like if it rains), then we will record everything in front of the stairs where the wingspan of the view is nice and plentiful.

So today we are working on our commercials and decided to go with Nike. Depending on the theme behind the Nike commercial, the setting is different. In most Nike commercials, they were advertising a sport in Nike apparel. This shows that the brand support supports both sports and physical appearance. In most recent years, Nike has expanded not only apparel but their ethics. This influenced us to make our commercial based off the "Nike is for everyone" motto.

For our commercial we will follow this theme and advertise a sports centered idea. In most Nike commercials there's always an inspirational theme and sound in the back. They use a current hype song used typically when people need to get pumped or is working out. This makes their video fun and interesting.

Their props are sports related and the lighting is usually standard unless their filming at night or in a building. This suggest that hard works pays off, and that Nike will help get you there. They gear their brand to people of all ages, ethnicity, gender, and social economic status. In recent years they did commercials on equality of all in any sports. This is why they co-found many other companies like Air Jordan, Converse, and Hurley.

Hello,
My name is Zach and I am a Senior in high school. I plan to major in music education and college and I still have no clue where I want to go. But before I was this close to college I lived a simple life that focused on sports. I grew up playing soccer and I felt I was extremely talented. Then around 4th or 5th grade is when I picked up basketball. Those two sports are truly my favorite to play and watch, however, sports never became a focus in my life.

My household had musically gifted people, and one of them turned out to be me. I sang in the South Florida Singing Songs, and the first instrument I ever learned was the violin. I started playing in the third grade and became very good at it in a short time frame. I picked it up faster than most of my classmates but then again we were all 7 or 8. This musical ability moved with me to middle and high school.

Now as a high school senior I spend most of my time in the band room trying to be better every day. I play a total of 13 or more different instruments and I still would like to learn more. Some may say I'm a band nerd but that is just something I'm passionate about. I still play sports outside of school and do many things around my community. So that is a little something about me and time moves on the more you will know.

By yours Truly,
Zach
