Final project blog

Last time we spoke, I introduced three different different pitches from three different movies. One from Love and Basketball, one from It Follows, and one from Hobbs and Shaw. The three we chose were three good movies, however; we have to narrow to down to the final two. The two we decided to go with was It Follows and Love and Basketball. We decided to eliminate Hobbs and Shaw because the intro to that movie was a split screen. I don't know how to do nor think I'm advanced enough to operated a split screen film. It was also a routine type of intro. By routine I mean both the characters in the beginning wake up, brush their teeth, get dress, make their breakfast, hop in their cars and go on with their daily life. This type of intro is something my teacher wanted me to avoided. I felt like the other two were most exciting and suspenseful, which is our movie goal.
Love and Basketball is a very famous movie. It has reached the audience of more than just athletes but people of all interest. You can watch it anytime of Netflix. The message behind the movie goes deeper than sports. It’s more about love life but through a sport. It shows us how true love never vanishes. No matter the time or distance. The intro of the movie shows how young kids develop a relationship and it got stronger throughout the years. The intro is intersecting because it calls out an social issue with gender inequality saying how girls don’t play basketball. However, at the end that statement was false after seeing the girl main character skills.
The movie It Follows however, was chosen because it very suspenseful. In the beginning it started out with a girl run and looking back as if she is running away from something. This catching the audience eye because ofc we want to see what she is running away from. The sound in the beginning is what gave it away that it was a scary movie. Also at the end of the intro, one girl was found dead at the beach. That same girl that was running away. How she died and who killed her was a mystery. A mystery that would keep people wanting to see more. That’s why it was for sure one of our top picks. We wanted people to be left with a cliff hanger.
After discussing with my partner we have decided that our movie film we be ... drum roll please ...... LOVE AND BASKETBALL ;) !
